EARLY FORDS--A number of Vermont antique car owners will join others from
other eastern states at the Early Ford V-8 Club's eastern national meet in
Rochester, N.Y., Aug. 13-16. According to a recent article in "Special Interest
Autos," published in Bennington, the 1941 Ford V-8 was listed as the best for fuel
economy for older vehicles of 3,000 pounds or more manufactured between 1938-
1965. The 1941 Ford tested got 17.4 miles per gallon in city driving and 22.3 on the
highway. Pictured above are H. Gene Payne and Doug Fawk of Michigan, who
are turning up Fawk's 1933 Ford and 1941 Mercury for the drive to Rochester.
