"Insulating them can save consumers energy and money." Designed to fit 50- or 80- gallon electric water heaters, the insulation jackets contain three inches of fiberglass insulation with an R-value of I0. "Despite the fact that electric water heaters are already well insulated, there are still stand-by losses. With the addition of an insulation jacket, stand-by losses can be reduced by more than 55 percent," Kopsack said.
