"Electric water heaters are
one of the largest users of
electricity in the home," said

Customer Services Director
Richard R. Kopsack.
"Insulating them can save
consumers energy and
money."
Designed to fit 50- or 80-
gallon electric water heaters,
the insulation jackets contain
three inches of fiberglass
insulation with an R-value of
I0.
"Despite the fact that
electric water heaters are
already well insulated, there
are still stand-by losses. With
the addition of an insulation
jacket, stand-by losses can be
reduced by more than 55
percent," Kopsack said.
(Stand-by losses occur
through the water heater case
or pipes 24 hours a day,
whether the customer draws
any hot water or not. )
