Prior to that, on Dec. 3, they took the show on the road to the Grafton County Nursing Home. The residents, their visitors and the employees were treated to the afternoon show. JO PHOTO BY MARY*BETH DICKEY Chelsea woman dies in house fire CHELSEA--An elderly woman died in a tragic Orange County house fire last week. On Dec. 4, Vermont State Police detectives and arson investigators responded to the scene of a residential house fire in Chelsea. The fire occurred during the overnight hours and the house had burned to the ground prior to any response from local fire departments. During the investigation, one victim was located deceased within the remains of the residence. The lone resident of the house, Alice Doyle, 86, was believed to be the victim. An autopsy was scheduled at the Office of the ChiefMedical Examiner to assist in positive identification. The driver of the car was identified at 2eremy Goodridge, 42, of Corinth. A license status check on Goodridge revealed that his driving privilege in the state of Vermont was under criminal suspension for several prior DUI. convictions. Goodridge was taken into police custody and transported to the Vermont State Police Outpost in Bradford for processing. He was given a criminal citation to appear in the Orange County Superior Court on Jan. 17 for a single charge of operating after criminal suspension. PIERMONT POLICE DEPARTMENT PIERMONT--On Nov. 2, Piermont Police issued a motor vehicle citation to a Bradford resident fo excessive speed in a school zone on Route 25. OnNov. 9, Plermont Police issued a town ordinance parking citation to a Bradford resident for illegal parking on Bedford Road. Piermont Police issued a motor vehicle citation to a Haverhill resident on Nov. 13 for excessive speed on River Road. On Nov. 16, Piermont Police arrested Nathan Bragg, 27, of Piermont, on an arrest warrant for several misdemeanor and violation level charges. Bragg was released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail with a court date of Jan. 10 at the 2nd Circuit, Haverhill District Court. A Piermont resident was issued a motor vehicle citation by Piermont Police for excessive speed on River Road on Nov. 27. *** On Nov. 30, Piermont Police responded to a motor vehicle accident when a dog walked into the travel portion of Route 10 and was struck. The vehicle sustained damage to the front fender and grill, and the dog did not survive. The owner of the animal was on scene at the time of the accident. OnNov. 30, Piermont Police took a report of an assault that occurred in Piermont. Further investigation deter- mined the matter to be unfounded. A new security feature implemented with the new system includes a.change to the way a driver license number, now called a credential identifier, is assigned. The upgraded system now issues New Hampshire driver licenses with three letters and eight randomly assigned digits for a total of 11 characters. This is a change from the current 10 digit driver license numbers in use today which were based on a person' s name and birth date. The change to the three letter and eight digit identifier impacts all New Hampshire driver licenses issued on or after Oct. 11. Current licenses will remain valid until their scheduledrenewal. This change completes the updating of the design of the New Hampshire driver and non-driver identification cards.
